Join us on the highest jump!

A helicopter skydive from a height of 18’000/5’500m above Interlaken awaits you – welcome to our highest jump! We think this jump combines the best aspects of all of our jumps and takes them to new levels. Experience our most beautiful scenic helicopter flight from Interlaken up to and over to the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. Then experience incredible freefall directly over Interlaken between the two lakes, with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the background – easily considered one of the most beautiful freefalls of all. To make this experience last even longer, we jump from a height of 18,000ft/5,500m, which doubles the freefall time compared to a regular jump. We think this is the most beautiful and best tandem skydive in the world – but judge for yourself!

As the pinnacle of skydiving in Interlaken and Switzerland, and ranking among the highest in Europe from a helicopter, this HALO (High Altitude – Low Opening) Jump not only offers an unparalleled altitude of up to 18,000ft /5’500m but also enriches your experience with an inclusive Ultimate Combo package— comprising of edited video, pictures, a ‘best of’ video, and your raw video footage, all valued at CHF 260 per person (for one or two people).

Rising above 8,000ft altitude turns the use of oxygen from a simple necessity into an enthralling part of the journey, marking this skydive a uniquely elevated experience!

  • How it works

    The Skydive

Our highest jump offers you the best combination of the most beautiful high altitude helicopter flight (with supplementary oxygen), as well as a double freefall time of about 80 seconds directly over Interlaken with a unique view of the region, before your gentle yet exhillarating parachute ride brings you back down to the ground.

Before the jump, we start with a 20-minute helicopter flight from Interlaken up to the Jungfraujoch and back. Thanks to the helicopter’s huge panoramic windows, you can enjoy the full beauty of the Jungfrau region on this unique sightseeing flight. We first fly over Männlichen, where you have a fantastic view of the unforgettable Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen valleys. We continue to Kleine Scheidegg, where we get up close to the famous trio of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Then we immerse ourselves in the glacier world at the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. Marvel at the largest glacier in Europe – the Aletsch Glacier, and the Sphinx Observatory. On the way back to Interlaken, the helicopter continues to climb, so we don our oxygen masks – another unique experience. When we have almost reached the jump height of 18,000ft/5,500m above Interlaken, you have an incredible view over half of Switzerland – the snow-capped peaks, abundant valleys and colourful flatlands stretching out to the horizon.

At around 80 seconds, the freefall from this height takes almost twice as long as during a standard jump. This gives you enough time to fully enjoy the unique feeling of freefall and the views over Interlaken with the two glistening lakes and the mountains in the background. At 5’500ft / 1,500 m above the ground, the parachute opens and you will have time to admire this beautiful landscape once again in peace and quiet. Your experienced instructor will land you safely at our dropzone in Wilderswil.

You will receive your photo and video package by email on the same day.

Are you ready for the thrill of a lifetime? Book now!

By supplying you with oxygen, we not only guarantee your comfort, but also your safety, so you can enjoy the incomparable thrill of the jump to the full while being expertly taken care of by your experienced instructor.

  • What is a HALO Jump?

A HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) jump is a type of skydiving performed from a much higher altitude than typical recreational jumps. Originating from military operations, HALO involves jumping from an aircraft at altitudes of 15,000 to 35,000 feet, significantly higher than the average 13,000 feet skydives. The key feature of a HALO jump is the extended freefall period before the parachute is deployed, allowing jumpers to experience a longer sensation of flight.

Who Can Experience the Thrill of Our HALO Jumps?

Originally designed for elite military operations, HALO jumps have now been made accessible for adventure-seeking civilians. Despite the daunting heights and the need for specialized equipment like oxygen masks, you don’t need to be an experienced skydiver to experience this thrill. Skydive Interlaken offers the opportunity for novices to dive into the excitement of HALO jumps via tandem experiences, led by highly qualified tandem masters.

Before taking the leap, all participants are required to undergo a thorough safety briefing to ensure they are fully prepared for the unique HALO jump. This preparation covers the use of oxygen equipment, the physiological effects of high-altitude jumps, and the thrilling experience of a prolonged freefall. Our expert team ensures that every jumper, regardless of their experience level, enjoys a safe and unforgettable skydiving adventure.

HAHO vs. HALO: Understanding the Differences

HAHO (High Altitude High Opening) jumps, while similar to HALO in terms of the starting altitude, differ mainly in when the parachute is deployed. In HAHO jumps, the parachute is opened almost immediately after exiting the aircraft, allowing jumpers to glide long distances with the canopy. HALO jumps, on the other hand, focus on a long freefall, providing an adrenaline-packed experience before opening the parachute on standard altitude.

  • 10. How high do I jump from?

The altitude of ⁓18,000 feet (approximately ⁓5,500 meters) is exceptional for this tandem skydiving experience, making it our highest jump. This elevation ensures an exhilarating and unforgettable freefall, positioning it among the highest helicopter skydives available to the public in Europe.

We understand that this experience is unique to every person, therefore we are very flexible in dealing with postponements

  • 14. Is it easy to breathe during the flight time and skydiving?

Before reaching 8,000ft /2’500m, air pressure and oxygen levels are at a level that ensure passengers in the helicopter breathe normally. Above this level, the pressure and oxygen concentration start to drop, so we supply supplementary oxygen during the helicopter flight to the final jumping altiture to ensure that skydivers remain comfortable, alert, and safe. This use of oxygen not only enhances safety by preventing hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) but also makes the high-altitude jump experience smoother and more enjoyable, allowing skydivers to focus on the thrill of the jump.

The freefall is without oxygen mask. Breathing during a skydive is a surprisingly manageable task. While the initial sensation of freefall might momentarily take your breath away, you’ll quickly adapt to the experience, and breathing will come naturally. Our skydiving instructors will provide thorough guidance on maintaining a relaxed body position, ensuring you can breathe comfortably throughout the entirety of the jump. With their support, you can focus on savouring every moment of this thrilling adventure with ease.

  • 15. How do I mentally prepare for skydiving?

Feeling nervous before the jump is entirely normal, but engaging in positive self-talk can help alleviate anxiety. Remind yourself of the comprehensive safety measures in place and place your trust in the expertise of your experienced instructor.

Before taking the leap, take a few deep breaths to centre yourself and remain calm. Visualizing a successful jump can boost your confidence and help you feel more at ease. Remember that skydiving is a thrilling adventure that countless people have embraced safely, and with proper preparation and guidance, you too can savour the exhilaration of this extraordinary endeavour.

  • 16. What should I eat before jumping?

To fully engage in this thrilling activity, it’s advisable to be well-hydrated and have a light meal beforehand, as the adrenaline rush can be intense. Keeping a clear head and being physically prepared ensures that you have full control of your actions and cognition, which are necessary for a safe and memorable skydiving experience.
